How the Phantom Pulse strategy works

An exponential moving average gives the newest bars more weight than the old ones, so it turns sooner than a simple average without jumping at every tick. The robot reads it as the line that separates a market going up from one going down.

MACD subtracts a slow average from a fast one and then smooths the result into a signal line. When the two lines cross, the balance between short term and long term pressure has changed, and that crossing is what the robot acts on.

The stochastic oscillator asks where the close sits inside the recent range, near the high or near the low. In a range that question separates the exhausted pushes from the fresh ones, which is exactly what a mean reversion robot needs.

Each piece answers a different question, so one of them chooses the side and another chooses the moment. Consequently the robot stays out of the market for long stretches, which is the point.

What you can change

The period of the average is the first input to try. A longer one holds the robot on the right side of the bigger move, a shorter one lets it turn earlier and get caught more often.

Before any of that, however, look at the risk block. After all, a good entry with the wrong lot size still empties an account, and therefore the sizing deserves the first pass rather than the last.
